Anthony Scott is professor of vaccine epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
He trained in clinical infectious diseases before specializing in infectious disease epidemiology. His research interests are focused on invasive bacterial infections of children, particularly S. pneumoniae and H. influenzae, where he has studied transmission of infection and the impact of vaccination. Much of his work has been on the aetiology of childhood pneumonia. He is also working on the clinical development of new ‘third generation’ pneumococcal vaccines that use multiple antigens to protect against all strains of S. pneumoniae
He is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science and a member of the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation
